Each year, an estimated 1 in 5 or 451,000 Long Island residents suffer from some form of mental health disorder. But many suffer in silence—because most can’t ask for help, especially those who need it the most. That’s why it is so important for friends, families, and neighbors to be the voice of those who can’t or won’t seek help for themselves. CN Guidance & Counseling Services is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization with experience since 1972.
CN (Central Nassau) Guidance & Counseling Services has grown substantially since its inception. Our evolution has been shaped largely by the emerging needs of consumers as they move through the process of recovery.

CN Guidance & Counseling Services, a nonprofit organization, inspires and catalyzes recovery for people living with mental health and substance use conditions through innovative and person-centered integrated clinical treatment, counseling, housing and support services — empowering those served to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
Understand the issues
Approximately 195,000 adults on Long Island suffer from some form of substance use disorder in any given year
Drug overdose is now the #1 cause of death for people under age 50 and an estimated 77,000 Long Island adults experience BOTH a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder that interfere with functioning or quality of life.
Many Long Island residents with mental health and/or substance use disorders are dying young. People with serious mental illness—SMI—die 25 years earlier than the general population, on average (Morbidity and Mortality in People with Serious Mental Illness, NASMHPD, 2006).

I loved this program. While attending these classes I was currently having issues in my relationship and dealt with a break up and Project Forward helped me rationalize and understand my current situation.
I Really loved this program thank you for all the help! needed financial resources into a strong grassroots community movement. Based on this community’s and our organization’s direct experience, we know the work this grant enables will save the lives of young people and change their trajectory as adults.
Maybe consider making the sessions shorter? I think I would prefer more sessions at 1 hour each than the 9 at 2 hours each. 2 hours for some sessions especially is a bit heavy/much. Just a thought though! Cait and Ericka are really great.
